Razors pain you;
Rivers are damp;
Acids stain you;
And drugs cause cramp;
Guns make a mess;
Nooses give;
Gas smells awful,
You Might As Well Live.

This one was put in a jacket,
This one was sent home,
This one was given bread and meat
But would not eat none,
And this one cried
All day long.
This one looked at the window
As though it were a wall,
This one saw things that were not there,
This one thinks of things that were,
An this one cried
All day long.
This one thought himself a bird,
This one a dog,
And this one thought himself a man,
An Ordinary man,
And cried
All day long

Quite unexpectedly as Vasserot
The armless ambidextrian was lighting
A match between his great second toe,
And Ralph the lion was engaged in biting
The neck of Madame Sossman while the drum
Pointed, and Teeny was about to cough
In a waltz-time swinging Joko by the thumb
Quite unexpectedly the top blew off:
And there. over there, hung over
Those thousands of white faces, those dazed eyes,
There in the starless dark the poide, hover,
There with vast wings across the canceled skies,
There in the sudden blackness the black pall
Of nothing, nothing, nothing--nothing at all.
